11. The CKD May Enhance Metabolism
There is some evidence that strategic carb cycling on a CKD may give your metabolism a boost compared to prolonged ketosis. The theory is that periodically throwing yourself out of ketosis forces metabolic flexibility.
The periods of low insulin from ketosis combined with periods of high insulin from carb feeds may enhance your metabolism better than either approach alone. The spikes in carb intake keep your body from adapting to ketosis and maintaining fat-burning potential.
However, research is limited and this theory remains unproven. But anecdotally, many report better weight loss results from carb cycling versus standard keto. More studies are needed on how carb feeds impact energy expenditure.
