Norepinephrine is a stress hormone is produced to make you more alert. Its effect is similar to that of adrenaline.

If you don’t eat for an entire day, your body will produce norepinephrine (11, 12). One effect of norepinephrine is that it signals the body to release fatty acids from the cells for burning.

The effect of norepinephrine increases metabolism by up to 14% (13, 14).
