3 Hormones Affected By Intermittent Fasting

Hormone 2: Insulin

Young woman fasting measures blood sugar level. Diabetes using glucometer.

Insulin plays an important role in our metabolism. It tells the body when to stop burning fat and use sugar. So we need insulin to absorb glucose from the blood.

If you have chronically high insulin levels, it will be very difficult to lose weight because the body constantly signals that it should store fat. That is why there is a clear link between chronically high insulin levels and obesity/obesity (6, 7, 8).

One way to lower one’s insulin and thus promote fat burning is to eat low carbohydrates or practice Intermittent Fasting (9, 10).
