18. Pay attention to your health, not to calories
One of the main problems with crash diets is that they encourage short-term thinking, such as calories counting, daily weigh-ins, or weekly weight goals.
People who go on crash diets, even if they succeed, they gain the weight back afterward because they haven’t learned to make sustainable, long-term changes to their habits.
So forget about counting calories. Instead, feel the positive changes in your body through exercise and healthy eating.
- Do you feel lighter?
- Has your posture improved?
- Do you feel less tired after work?
- Are your sugar cravings subsiding?
If you focus on these changes and the positive effects of your new, healthy habits, you’re more likely to stick with them.
